Here’s everything you’ll need to know when booking flights from the US to London, including average flight times and entry requirements.

Flight Times

While there are numerous airlines offering direct flights to London from the US, the length of your flight will vary considerably depending on where you’re flying from.

For example, flights from the West Coast, such as Los Angeles will take around ten and a half hours, whereas a flight from the East Coast, such as New York will take as little as six and a half to seven hours.

Entry Requirements

If traveling to the UK for tourism purposes, then you shouldn’t need a visa. However, if you plan to visit to study or work, or have a criminal record, then you should visit the UK Visas and Immigration website to determine whether you need a visa to visit.

Perhaps the best option is the Heathrow Express train, which will take you to London Paddington in just 15 minutes, where you can catch an Underground train to your destination.

London Gatwick (LGW)

Gatwick airport is located about 28 miles south of London, although you can easily get to central London is just 30 minutes via the Gatwick Express train, which will take you to Victoria Station.
